Once the entire menu was decided, the arrangements for preparing the dinner started. The responsible people for the camp got all the required cooking utensils (although utensil is very tiny word for it) Sack full of onions, ginger/garlic, tomatoes, bucket of Chickpeas (white chanaa) flour, Suji (hulwa) and all other required spices. As we all know what Onions can do to us, nobody wanted onions for obvious reasons. So our teacher delegated who is to do what. And since I had been always the most favorite student to my teachers she picked me to deal with onions/ginger/garlic with couple of other girls. Boy! The sack with onions smelled like one of those vegetable markets after all vegetables are sold. eeekkss..  I along with my close friend picked a corner to sit chit chat and started peeling onions. And I swear to God L I still haven’t forgiven those stupid onions for bringing tears in my eyes. Initially, it irritated and we cribbed but soon we kind of lost it...
So this was in the year 2000, at a National Integration Camp, Goa. The state I belong to; we people here take immense pride in a lot of things, almost everything in fact. Most important of all being that we are FROOOOM ‘Punjab’   And it kind of gives a natural bravery feeling or may be or whatever. Students present there to attend this camp from all different states, had something very common for us in their eyes. By us I mean for students of my state. As we chased time, and we interacted with each other (and few got entangled and newfangled), we established that- -That thing in their eyes we saw, was our image. Because of the impression they carried about us. In their words, we were known as very angry, super hyper and highly prestigious population.   Like who is not these days huh??? Now, while this is what they thought about us,  In the middle of all this we also noticed that students from other states were kind of cautious a...
Final year of Graduation By the time I was in third year of my management degree course, I was a total masterpiece. I hated men. I was a strong headed stubborn young lady. My thoughts and dressing sense was frowned upon by society and relations. As far as I was concerned, I treated entire society as bunch of jerks carrying their uncouthness and trying to spread the disease of inequality and absurdness every where. I very well remember one of the incidents wherein I had attended the NSS camp. During the camp, one of the tasks for the girls was discussion about orphans in our society and the girl child. At one point while talking and discussing, I brought an idea of adopting girl child or children who have no families. My teacher and few other girls interrupted and said, socially it’s not feasible because blah blah blah……….and also because we feel these decisions are of precarious nature. For a moment, I was speechless. I was like “then why the hell are w...

Recent incidents.....

I feel our last 2 generations were extremely selfish and busy in making money and playing mind games. And the elders in politics who just don't want let go of their positions and ego. Although, I strongly believe that we have 99% bullshit in our culture; some how I also feel that it were parents/families who missed out on giving some crucial teachings, values to future generations. ... They clearly to a large extent failed to make females independent and strong in every way, most of it mentally. An independent women automatically develops the guts to kick a man's ass at right time, in right place when required. Women even today strongly suffer deep down a feeling of security. Our earlier generations totally failed in making males in our society sophisticated enough so that they could accept women just as humans and part of society. Our families never felt the need to feed them with right and wrong. And as I always say, every segment in society has...
Summer of 1999 The breaking news spread like wild fire in the entire college. And it ought to be. Reason being- it was in the history of that college wherein the typical dress code clause for women was removed. So basically, women students were allowed to wear jeans/trousers too if they want. But that was it. Nothing more or should I say nothing less :D Well, according to me it was the best thing ever. However, on one hand where it brought huge relief to me, at the same time it invited way more competition in dressing among girls. Majority of girls from regular arts/ honors  still continued with the dress code. But the commerce and management girls,  "Holy cow!" As I mentioned earlier in my posts, we use to hear a lot of rumors about the Principal of our college. Starting from how strict she was to why was she divorced. Honestly, I personally had made my own impression about her and boy it was good. I always thought that strictness was require...
So, we were in a fast food place called 'Wimpy's. My dear professor handed  me a 500 Rupee bill and said  "why don't you go to the counter and order what ever you want to have" I looked at the other girl who I don't know how but always managed to keep this smile on her face; like forever. Seriously, ever since I knew her, she had this exact stereotype smile pasted on her face. Not an inch here or there. Just the same. As I looked at her, and while she was still smiling, I figured that she is JUST going to continue smiling until I speak. So I did what I had to. I asked her for suggestions about what shall we order to eat. S he instead of answering to me, turned her face towards Sir. Following the telepathy sir responded,  "Oh dear smriti! it's you who won. It's your call. you just go "GO" and order what ever you like". I said to myself. "woww I am awsm. such a special treatmen...
14 th of February, 1999. Debating and discussing important issues is always interesting. There was this inter-college declamation contest held in one of the renowned colleges of our state. One of my  favorite  professor's in my college suggested participating in that contest. I was his  favorite  student in the class. (at least I thought so) so, I thought maybe that’s why he was insisting me to participate. He also did talk a lot positively about my talking skills and brought up few qualities of mine which indicated that I am good. So be it, I got flattered and convinced by his talk's and entered my name in the contest. The gate/parameter for entering into competition was that it had to be a team of two people.  Contestants were to be judged under two  categories, individual performance and performance as a team. Therefore, I with one more girl (my team mate now) were informed to prepare ourselves. Also, later we were informed about the date...
