So this was in the year 2000, at a National Integration Camp, Goa.

The state I belong to; we people here take immense pride in a lot of things, almost everything in fact. Most important of all being that we are FROOOOM ‘Punjab’

And it kind of gives a natural bravery feeling or may be or whatever.

Students present there to attend this camp from all different states, had something very common for us in their eyes. By us I mean for students of my state. As we chased time, and we interacted with each other (and few got entangled and newfangled), we established that- -That thing in their eyes we saw, was our image. Because of the impression they carried about us.

In their words, we were known as very angry, super hyper and highly prestigious population.
Like who is not these days huh???

Now, while this is what they thought about us, In the middle of all this we also noticed that students from other states were kind of cautious and polite while talking to us. They were cautious to an extent that they even tried to avoid any kind of discussion with us. and we guessed a little spookiness in us.

But then also there were few fine but uncanny people who had this beautiful quality of identifying our friendly raddy nature. Although, It must have been real gutsy for those who gathered all the courage to sit by our side and tell us that “ nobody should mess with a Punjabi women” is another thing they heard :D

Well, that u bet.

Where they knew at least this much about us and our state, we on the other hand were almost virgin about their culture and data and hardly knew anything.

Now worth mentioning here, were women students from Gujrat. Oh my God! The kind of attitude I observed in those women.    Holy cannoli!!

Seeing them, at times made me doubt my states female performance.

Gujrati women: super beautiful and lightning fast presence of mind and duper fast replies on anything you talk. They know it all. Not only they carried their culture on them 24*7 but made sure that they spread it too. They often taught us their dialect, dance etc.

There were times when we were trying to prove something to them and they in turn made sure that they constantly picked on us. Oh boy!! it was a complete women world. Each one of us had the BIG traditional capital ‘J’ factor right on our faces.

And then of course there were guys who constantly performed not to upset women of any state and were extra nice and polite.

Anyhow!!!!!
In the middle of all this we managed numerous competitions, cooked state specials, fought debates, kicked dance steps and much more. Every evening had new fun packed schedule for local residents of that area in Goa.

Sharp 8:00 PM the crowd gathered to infuse themselves with fun, laughter, entertainment which we prepared.  And they also had a chance to judge best state performances.

Every evening was one hell of an experience.

One fine evening we were delegated responsibility of preparing dinner and preferably food representing our state. Before we could even discuss among ourselves, it appeared that half of the population there already kind of knew.
And the crowd practically demanded the classic the EPIC the most delicious one of its kind
‘Poori Channa’ and ‘Halwa’ :D

It was such a happy feeling to see poori channa, halwa on top of the list among all the states of my country. I guess that’s what makes us so popular. J

And I wished I was a girl 3 times my size to prepare food that evening J

Coming in next Post:
Dealing with Big cooking wok/utensils, peeling and cutting pounds of Onions, and funniest part when two girls struggled to stir Halwa preparation left right center :D
